Mae Tam Handicraft Center 

       Mae Tam Handicraft Center is located in Serm Ngam Distrct, about 30 kilometers away from Downtown Lampang. lt is one of the Queen’s project that aims to improve the living quality of local people. The center was built in 1984 with three major practices  within the project :prevent the area from deforestation and poaching, and prevent forest fire.

• To Educated local people about new ways to Agricuture. The project brings in new methods and technologies in Agricuture. The project brings in new methods and technologies in Agricalture to the area. The stafts show the locals the how-to-do- it at the center. Then, they are handed out samples of crops animals, and materials needed to start on their own. With this program, the locals are updated with new methods and technologies ; therefore, with more efficiency, the project helps  improve their income.
• To be the center of handicrafts in the area. The project promotes handicraft activities as pottery, ceramics, basket and cloth wearing, wood carving, and silk products. Once the locals learn how to do these Activitics, they will go home and do it themselves. Once finished, the locals can bring the finished goods to the center, in which they can be sold for profits. This Pratice also helps improve the income level to the locals.
