Mae Moa Power Plant

Lignite was found at Amphoe Mae Moa in 1955. Since Thailand has faced the lack of oil to support the country and the increasing oil prices, lignite was the cheapest natural resource  used to produce  electricity.  Presently, there are thirteen electrical generators. Lignite coal from Mae Moa Plant has been transformed into electricity for use all over Thailand.  This plant also has a very attractive sightseeing place for visitors called “Sala Chom View.” From here visitors can enjoy a view of the Mae Moa Facilities.
