Geographical Features

Lampang is divided into 3 parts:
The upper level: Densely forested high mountains and the source of rivers.
The 4 districts called Wang Neua, Chaihom, Muang Pan, and Ngao.
The Middle level: The valley floor and the river banks.
There are 4 districts called Hang Chat, Mae Moe, Mae Tha, and Kho Ka.
The Lower level:
The unforested areas. There are 4 districts called Serm Gharm, Sobprab, Thoen, and Mae Prik .

The Government

    There are 13 districts, 100 sub districts, 913 villages, 1 municipality, 15 sub municipalities, 1 centrally administrated communities, 87 provincial administrated sub-districts and 3 locally administrated sub-districts.

Population

    The population of Lampang is 781,260 – males 386,151 and females 395,109. The district of Lampang area (Include the municipal area), having the largest population , the second largest population is Kho Ka district , and the third Mae Tha.

The Important Minerals

    In 1999, There were 62 licenses mineral mines in Lampang. There were 560 coal mine workers. The income from the mineral section and fee is 319,655,998.95 baht; a reduction of of 27,341,495.05 baht from the 1998 income

The main mineral product is lignite:

  • 14,700762.32 magritons ( 7,350,381,160 baht).
  • Bauxite 201.066 magritons ( 110,586,300 baht).
  • White clay 192,348.33 magritons ( 74,053,980 baht).
